What do you believe?
Please read our statement of 'Fundamental Beliefs' by clicking here.
What is the purpose of your church organization?
The Church Of God In Training For The Kingdom is a nonprofit unincorporated association. It is organized to perform the two-part commission of Jesus Christ. (For more information, please read our mission statement by clicking here and scrolling to the bottom of the page.)
Do you meet for weekly services? If so, where?
Yes, we meet for services every Sabbath (Saturday), beginning at 12-noon P.S.T., via phone conference or in person at the Ramada Hotel, located at 374 Ruggieri Way, Williams, CA 95987 (click for map). Visitors are welcome. If you are interested in attending, please notify our Pastor, Dan Cafeo, to confirm that services are being conducted as scheduled. Contact information can be found here.
How large is your church group?
Currently our group consists of five (5) members, including our pastor, Dan Cafeo. Our small size allows for a classroom format for Sabbath services, where the church members are students and our pastor is the teacher. Our Sabbath meetings often incorporate open dialogue, question and answer, and homework assignments. Our church members are in unanimous agreement that this approach is perfectly suited for those who desire a dynamic spiritual education.
Is your Church group officially recognized by the IRS as a non-profit organization?
Yes.
Do you accept tax-deductible donations?
Yes.
How do you spend donations?
One hundred percent of donations, as well as tithes and offerings of church members, are only used to perform the two-part commission of Jesus Christ to the church. That is, (A) to teach and serve individuals in the church, and (B) preach the gospel to all people. (For more information, please read our mission statement by clicking here and scrolling to the bottom of the page.)
Have you been associated with other Church of God groups in the past?
Yes, as individual members, we have been associated with other Church of God groups in the past—most notably, the Worldwide Church of God, from which we became individually disassociated in the early to mid 1990’s, when core foundational doctrines in the Church were altered, in what can be accurately called a “falling away.” Subsequently, many of our members bounced around in various “splinter” groups, repeatedly disillusioned by poor church leadership and/or violation of biblical doctrines.
Why are you no longer associated with a larger Church of God group?
First, it must be said that we never had any intention to “start our own church group.” Rather, we have tried in earnest to find a faithful and spiritually thriving Church of God group to support. Over the past few years, we have been associated with a number of organizations and have become disillusioned each time, usually because of (A) poor church leadership and/or (B) violations of biblical doctrines.
Is your church organization affiliated with any other church organization?
No.
Do the doctrines you follow differ from the doctrines of the Worldwide Church of God, under Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong’s leadership?
We follow every one of the foundational doctrines restored by God to the Church through Herbert W. Armstrong. However, Mr. Armstrong stated that one of the proofs of God’s true church is that we change when we are wrong in our understanding. That we must grow in knowledge and share it with those of like mind. Therefore, we believe there were some references made by Mr. Armstrong that must be examined more closely. These are principally as follows: (A) Mr. Armstrong implied that it was possible for Christ to have sinned while in human form. We do not believe this can be substantiated biblically. The evidence points overwhelmingly to the fact that Christ could not have sinned because the outcome was preordained. Please read our article, “Could Christ Sin?” (B) We believe awareness should be made in commonly referring to Christ as our “elder brother”—that it is unbiblical and denigrating. We don’t believe this phrase has been used maliciously, but mistakenly. Since Christ will marry the Church, it is more appropriate to refer to Christ as a “husband to be.” The church will be His wife and helpmate, not His “brother.” Please read our article, “Is Christ Our Elder Brother?”
